Architectural Design in Kampala

From Concepts to Construction Drawings

Luphix Designs provides full architectural design services for residential and commercial projects in Uganda. The work begins with research and concept development,  ends with a complete set of drawings and specifications your contractor can build from accurately. This page is for clients who are planning to build and want to understand exactly what a complete architectural package looks like before they begin.

How it Works - the Process

1. Consultation and Brief

We discuss your project in detail — site, programme, budget constraints, and timeline. This conversation forms the basis for the design brief.

2. Research and Concept

Site analysis and concept development. The spatial logic of the building is established and presented for your input before detailed design begins.

4. Final Documentation

Completed architectural drawings and specifications are delivered in formats suitable for contractor use and approval submission.

3. Architecturals  Development

The concept is developed architectural drawings, specifications, and 3D impressions. Revisions are made until the final design is agreed upon.

What Architectural Design Covers

Architectural design is the process of determining what a building will look like, how it will be arranged spatially, and how it will be constructed. It is the documentation that sits between an idea and a building. This is the scope of architectural design as I practice it:

1. Research and Concept Development:

Every project begins with analysis - the site, the brief, the context. Concept development establishes the spatial logic of the building: how spaces relate to one another, how the building sits on its plot, and how it responds to the way it will be used.

2. Detailed Architectural Design:

Concept is developed into a fully resolved design - spatial planning, appearance, materials, and the technical details of how the building is assembled. This is where the design becomes specific and buildable.

3. Architectural Drawings and Specifications:

The detailed design is delivered in the form of architectural plans (floor plans, sections, elevations), 3D impressions and visualizations, construction specifications and material details. These documents are what a contractor works from on site.

What Falls Outside This Scope

The following are specialist inputs that fall outside architectural design. They are frequently required for building approvals or construction — but they are produced by other professionals and priced separately:

  • Structural drawings (Structural Engineer)

  • Electrical drawings (Electrical Engineer)

  • Geo-technical studies

  • Building permit applications and approvals

  • Bills of quantities (Quantity Surveyor)

  • Plumbing drawings (Mechanical Engineer)

  • Environmental impact assessments (EIA)

  • Physical planners' concept

  • Survey report

I advise clients on which of these are required for their specific project and coordinate with the relevant specialists where needed.

Who This Service Is For

Homeowners building a house:

You need properly prepared architectural drawings — plans and specifications that reflect your brief and can be built from accurately.

Property developers:

Multi-unit residential or mixed-use development requiring coordinated architectural documentation and 3D visualization.

Business owners:

Office, retail, pharmacy, clinic, or hospitality project requiring architectural design from concept to construction-ready drawings.

Clients with land and a brief:

You have a site and a clear idea of what you want to build. Architectural design is where that idea becomes a buildable set of documents.
